The Dark Knight was a great film, but it’s not Lawrence of Arabia. It’s not The French Connection, or A Clockwork Orange or the Godfather. It ain’t The Deer Hunter. These are classics. The Dark Knight will never be a classic. Just another great action flick.

because all the movies made now suck like crap! finally a movie thats actually pretty comes out so yeah… and heathe ledger as joker…. that was pretty terrifying.
Wow bud you think it won’t be a classic. That’s where your wrong for a Couple of reasons. Number 1 its the second highest film in Box office history with the first being Titanic. Number 2 it was Heath Ledgers last film and it was his best performance in his career. Not only those it was rated the best Batman film out there. So YES it will be a classic no doubt. The other Batman films are classic and they were shitty.
No the Dark Knight could be a classic. It is a Good Film and arguably Great but consider the people who are calling it the best movie ever made. It is usually young teens who barely see movies or the movies they see aren’t really diverse but they just look at action flicks or anything scanty. You are obviously a movie buff who seen a lot of classic movies in a diverse range of genres. A lot of these young teens haven’t.
Secondly it had a huge revenue stream with 900+ million or a near billion and has garnered a lot of attention so they can only assume its so great. This generation hasn’t had a huge blockbuster so they can only assume it is the greatest movie ever made. But yet again that is because they do not have a broadened perspective.
Thirdly people like Batman and superheroes and have an infatuation with the Joker. Since its release it has been Joker mania and people have been obsessed and enthralled with Heath Ledger’s legendary performance. But people only assume from the hype and from his performance it is the greatest.
No.. you are completely wrong in your thinking. the people that can recognize good movies think its the best movie ever made. the first shot of the movie, is almost physically impossible. there is no shadow in the building from the camera and for that shot you cant go in and erase the shadow without it looking fake.. did you notice that? probably not. the joker makes the movie amazing too. you probably dont realize how much he did. the little lip movements, the way he did those little movements like figeting. the hospital blowing up, that had to be done in one shot. the script is incredible. back to the joker thing, he didnt cut his nails, in the interegation scene, you can see how long his nails are, his teeth arent brushed, he locked himself in a hotel room for a month with every comic that had to do with the joker to get in to character (to make his laugh and everything) two-face’s face is completely CG.. and the Bat-pod. only one person in the entire world can ride that type of bike. the acting, the script, the action (the truck flipping over)… watch it again and notice the little things, thats what makes it great. lets see what you say after that. a classic?… legendary.
Saddly I agree …a little I feel it will never reach the godfather level but more of the taxi driver or dr strange love where people remember parts but not the whole thing, classic to an extent but by no means a master peice
No i disagree. The Dark Knight thas cemented a place in film history and especially if it gets the Best Picture Oscar Nomination. Because then it will be the only superhero movie ever to be nommed for an Oscar. The movie is brilliant, especially Heath Ledger.. no scratch that, Ledger was phenomenal. He is on course to win an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, and if he does win, then it will be considered a classic.
I thought it was a great movie, however I agree its not the best movie ever made. I believe the fact that it was Heath Ledger’s last movie ever made has a lot to do with the impact of people’s opinions on it. I thought he played a great Joker and no one will ever be able to top is role as the Joker. But the movie overall was not the best ever made.
It isn’t the best film of all-time but it the best film in a long time probably since the 90’s so people will say that, and with Heath Ledgers death, and his awesome portrayal of the Joker gave him one last bang. The effects of the movie was great the movie had a great timing wasn’t long wasn’t to short, the suspense, and the stunts were great. The only thing I didn’t like was Batman’s annoying voice and Two-face with his damn coin but all and all it was the greatest film since Titanic.
It’s a great movie, but not the best movie of all time, not even close really. That honor goes to the Godfather in my opinion, but the dark knight is one of the best superhero movies. All the 13 year old boys screaming about how this movie is the best ever either: haven’t been around long enough to see the best movies out there (a few of which you mentioned), or they think that a couple good actors and cool special effects makes a movie the best

It comes down to naive youngsters and hype.
