Add Albert Pujols, Sammy Sosa, Barry Bonds to your list of no-brainers, b/c they will get in even though u dont want them to, b/c u r not a Hall of Fame voter. Jeter will get in first ballot if his career continues in the way its going. Glavine will be in, Andruw most likely, Thome and Frank THomas are also no brainers(especially Thomas), and Ichiro is not a no brainer, but he is a shoe in.

I often try to predict this myself, for all sports, but especially for baseball:

I agree with all of your no-brainers, but Biggio (could make it) and Trevor Hoffman (not many relivers have made it, and was he that outstanding?)
Of your potential HOF'ers: Off the top, I think Manny is pretty much a no-brainer, and don't believe that Luis Gonzalez or Johnny Damon has much of a shot at all. Many of your others are pretty good picks for this category, though.

I agree with your "close but no cigar" list, and will withhold commentary on the steroid issue. I haven't sorted that out yet.

if they retired today:
Clemens (if you consider him current), Maddux, Johnson, Rivera, Glavine, Griffey, Bonds (he started the juice in '98 - if he retired in 98 he would have been in), Smoltz, Piazza, Bagwell

needs a few more good seasons:
ARod, Jeter, Sheff, M Ramirez, Ortiz, Pettitte, P Martinez, V Guerrero, A Jones, Mussina, Tejada, Helton

along the path but have most of their career ahead of them:
Teixeira, Pujols, Ichiro, Soriano

No--Sosa, Palmeiro --w/o steroids, they wouldn't have the same numbers they do. Bonds was already in before he started with roids (see note about Bonds)

I think chipper jones and andruw jones are getting very close. Vizquel with all his gold gloves.. jeter is in, all those division titles and world titles, he is in. Todd Helton is very close, edmonds? close but no cigar? A lot of gold gloves with good offensive numbers, maybe if he can produce for 4 more years. Sheffield should be down there with bonds and sosa, remember he is a balco boy. Damon shouldn’t be on that list, if he is you have to add about 20 others. He isn’t close yet.

Manny Ramirez is a shoo-in Hall of Famer. And I’m a NY Yankee fan. Derek Jeter is not a shoo-in but he has an excellent chance of getting in. As far as Albert Pujois, he’s still young, let’s see what’s going to happen with him in the next five years.

On the others I agree with you. It’s close. Glavine, Smoltz, and Ichiro.

The others not quite there yet. The ones who you say are going to get in, I agree.
