Are We Going To Respond To The Warnings That Sacramento Levees May Fail?

We heard it again and again that a strong storm may destroy the Sacramento Levees causing a disaster several times more damage than the one in Louisiana. When that happens many Americans will lose their lives, property and our economy will tumble down some more. I heard that it takes 600 billion dollars to fix the problem,we can’t afford that,so we wait. After all with 600 billion dollars we can fix the levees,or we can finance the war in Iraq for one more year.Which is more important? But don’t worry, I think we have a disaster response plan when the levees fail. First, our leaders go there and take “photo ops”pictures with the victims to prove that they support them. More important politicians will fly over with helicopters to convince themselves that the disaster really happened. Many “non-profit (!)” groups will form and come to your door to collect donations asking for your last dollar, and get nasty if you don’t give. These “good” people will do all that except stop the disaster.

Well you can’t stop the disaster…and I’m sure those aren’t the only levees that are failing. There are a lot of things in the country that need to be replaced and/or fixed but there simply isn’t enough money…
